2018 - Antonio Galloni presents Vinous

  • Quarz '16

    91 points
Deep pale yellow. Kiwi, gooseberry, sage, medicinal herbs and vanilla on the nose and in the mouth. This Quarz strikes me as just a little less perfumed than usual but it’s a lovely wine and very typical of what Terlano achieves with this wine, its high-end Sauvignon Blanc. Finishes long and graceful, with the oak currently showing a bit. I’d cellar this for a year at least before popping the cork.

Pale straw green. Apple and sweet spices on the musky nose. Then sneaky concentration to the yellow apple, pear and mineral flavors. The lovely floral finish is marked by a herbal and stony nuances. Well done.

Golden-tinged yellow. Intense gooseberry and ripe tropical fruits on the showy nose. Then fresh, clean and spicy, with an easygoing quality to its lime, sage and lemon verbena flavors that are fresh crisp and long.
  • Terlaner I Grande Cuvée 2015 '15

    97 points
Vivid pale golden-tinged yellow. The mineral-driven, perfumed nose boasts intense aromas of fresh pear, Golden Delicious apple, lime peel and jasmine, with a mineral overtone. Racy, fragrant, sharply focused fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors are powerful and penetrating, but show no excess weight. The 2015 Grande Cuvée I Primo gains sweetness and a gingery nuance with air while maintaining noteworthy tension and remarkable clarity and cut. The strikingly pure, laser-like and extremely long finish shows superb energy with nuances of powdered minerals and lemony zing lingering nicely. An outstanding, truly beautiful wine from Terlano, that is one of this year’s best white wines from Italy.
  • Vorberg '15

    96 points
Pale straw-gold. Beautiful nose of white stone fruit, lime, lemon verbena, beeswax and minerals; this is an absolutely captivating expression of Pinot Bianco at its best. Then similar flavors on the palate, but richer and riper than usual for this wine, with a long flavorful saline finish that offers repeating floral nuances. Pinot Bianco (Weissburgunder in German) does not get any better than this.
  • Nova Domus '15

    92 points
Bright straw-gold. Complex aromas of pear, iodine, sweet spices, and smoke. Densely packed, rich and round, with very well integrated orchard fruit, mineral and chamomile flavors. This deep, creamy blend of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc finishes firm with a lingering note of candied ginger.

Bright medium-dark golden yellow. Typical Gewürz aromas of smoked beef, rose petal, grapefruit plus a hint of white flowers that confers complexity and a lighter touch. Rich and tactile in the mouth, with a savory quality to the ripe tropical and spicy flavors. Finishes long rich and suave.
