2008 - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Cantina di Terlano is a reference-point producer for fine wines in Alto Adige. The top selections are regularly among the finest wines in Italy.

  • Quarz '06

    93 Punkte
The 2006 Sauvignon Quarz is a remarkable wine. Made in an opulent, soft-textured style, it reveals an array of mango, yellow peaches and lime peel, all beautifully framed by a persistent underlying note of minerality. There is incredible purity, detail and clarity here, not to mention an outstanding sense of harmony. This wine took quite a bit of time to open up, but when it did, it was clearly a gem. In a pinch, I might give this 30 minutes or so in a bottle-shaped decanter.
  • Lunare '06

    93 Punkte
The 2006 Gewürztraminer Lunare possesses intricate layers of passion fruit, mango, spices and vanilla. It is an exotic, full-bodied white loaded with personality and style. This, too, is a terrific effort from Terlano.
  • Porphyr '05

    93 Punkte
Terlano's 2005 Lagrein Riserva Porphyr is a showstopper. Deeply-colored to the core, it flows from the glass with masses of dark fruit, herbs, licorice, toasted oak and minerals. Expansive and generous on the palate, it possesses stunning depth, purity and sheer class, with gorgeous minerality that lingers on the long, elegant finish. Today the tannins come across as needing a little more time to integrate so further bottle age is likely to be beneficial. This is a reference-point Lagrein.
  • Nova Domus '05

    91 Punkte
The 2005 Terlaner Nova Domus is 60% Pinot Blanc, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc that spent 12 months in oak, equal parts cask and small French oak barrels. The Sauvignon aromatics dominate the bouquet, but on the palate the Pinot Blanc fruit and texture come through beautifully. As outstanding as Terlano's blends can be, I tend to gravitate towards the mono-varietal wines, which offer a higher degree of expression.
  • Gewürztraminer '07

    90 Punkte
The 2007 Gewürztraminer reveals an intriguing combination of varietal passion fruit, mango, flowers and spices on a focused, mineral-driven frame. This focused, pure white offers tons of length and a clean, refreshing finish. It is another beauty from Terlano.
